we would like to share some tips to keep your favorite furniture away from irritating mold.

With lovely petrichor, monsoon has arrived. Out of all seasons, monsoon is the best time to chill in your cozy home with a cuppa coffee, listening to the heavy downpours falling on the roof. But on the downside, this beautiful season also brings little problems that can annoy you_ the moisture which is the major cause of the growth of mold in your home and your favorite furniture.

The annoying situations such as creaking wooden furniture, smelly cupboards and damp sofas are caused by mold _the very common thing in rainy season. In most cases, mold happens when there is excess humidity and not enough ventilation in the room. As soon as the rain starts, the moisture in our surrounding gets higher and increase humidity. But this year, we would like to share some tips to keep your favorite furniture away from irritating mold.

1. Keep your indoor as dry as possible

Mold can survive only on two things _organic food and water. Mold cannot grow without moisture so drying your indoor is one simple way to reduce the humidity. Invest in a dehumidifier to reduce and maintain humidity in the air in your home.

2. Get proper ventilation

Open up the windows for ventilation and air flow. With all the doors and windows closed, it’s getting little ventilation for the air to move around and that helps mold to grow. Even if you cannot let the fresh air in by opening windows, having alternative way of airflow such as fans or AC can help prevent the moisture buildup and mold growth.

3. Choose the right place for wooden furniture

You might have placed your wooden furniture next to the walls or near to the windows in the dry seasons, but it’s time to rearrange in rainy season. Reduce the exposure to rain that is harmful for your fine wooden furniture. As well if you are thinking to remain your dresser or cupboard against to the wall, make sure the walls are well insulated.

4. Get prevention for your garden furniture

It’s time to bring your garden furniture back indoor. But what if you do not have spare space to keep them inside? At least remove and clean all the cushions. If your furniture can be folded away, that is perfect. For those you can’t have it back indoor, keep an eye on them during rainy season and once the season is over, get them suitable furnishing.

5. Make sure there is no water leak.

Look around your house and find if there is any spot where water might leak. The unnoticed wet spot can be a mold site and later costs an expensive remediation. A damp spot in a closed interior is the best scenario for mold. Early detection will prevent you from costing high Maintenance fee.

If it is a little bit too late to do so and mold builds up their empire around your beloved wooden furniture, don't panic. There are still easy things you can do to remove them.

1) Before you do cleaning, protect yourself with a rubber long gloves, safety googles and a mask that can cover your mouth and nose because mold spores can be harmful for your health.

2) Vacuum the area with mold, using the soft brush attachment.

3) Scrub the area using a wipe cloth dipped in water and dish soap or mild detergent.

4) In the rare cases, if the bold is heavy and stubborn, use bleach solution with a scrub sponge and dry the furniture after.

These tips should relatively prevent your beloved furniture from the harm of mold in this rainy season. Try them at home and enjoy mold-less monsoon!
